PRK

In certain situations PRK laser surgery may be recommended instead of LASIK. This is often the case when a person’s cornea is too thin or misshapen to safely allow creation of a LASIK flap.

In PRK surgery, the surgeon actually removes the surface cells from the cornea before using the laser to reshape the cornea. The cells grow back naturally over several days following the procedure.
