Overview
The cornea is the front clear surface of the eye. Light is focused
as it passes through the cornea to enter the eye. Damage to the
cornea can occur at any age. Infection, injury, contact lens abuse,
other eye problems and some general health problems may damage the
cornea. This damage may prevent light from entering the eye
properly, resulting in decreased vision. It may also cause the
surface of the eye to become rough and irregular, which causes pain.
